Iranian Studies Department, Jagiellonian University, Cracow

Though Polish-Persian relations can be traced back to the 15th century, Oriental studies were founded in Cracow after Poland's regaining of independence in 1918, and from then onwards Persian language and literature have been taught at our University. Our studies focus on the languages, literatures and cultures of the Iranian World (Iran, Afghanistan, Kurdistan), in particular Iranian linguistics and Middle Persian as well as New Persian classical and modern literature.
